Vertical Guardrail System For Parapet Walls & Open Edges (#12045)

The Vertical Guardrail System model 12045 which is designed for fall protection on low pitch roofs, including parapet walls. This unique system is designed to be anchored on the outside of a parapet wall so that work can be done to the decking and cap without interference from the fall protection system. Its Durability and versatility also makes it ideal for temporary guardrailing around most openings or edges (skylights, stairwells, elevator shafts, etc). 2 x 4 construction grade lumber is used for cross rails.

In 2012 Acro introduced the Vertical Guardrail System model 12045 which is designed for fall protection on low pitch roofs, including parapet walls. This unique system is designed to be anchored on the outside of a parapet wall so that work can be done to the decking and cap without interference from the fall protection system. The 12045’s durability and versatility also makes it ideal for temporary guardrailing around most openings or edges (skylights, stairwells, elevator shafts, etc). 2 x 4 construction grade lumber is used for cross rails. The design was updated in 2013 to allow for clearance of 2” parapet caps and drip edges and also to allow for post height adjustment.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

12045 Vertical Guardrail System Instructions:

General:

1) Always erect and use in accordance with local, state and federal OSHA regulations.

2) Not an anchor point.

3) Roofing guardrails are meant for use by experienced tradesmen having full knowledge in its use.

4) OSHA regulations require that employer provide training in the use
and care of this product.

Mounting the 12045 bracket:

1) Install the abp#12045 bracket into an approved structure capable of withstanding a 200 lbs load in the direction that the fall would occur (Outer edge).

2) Three screw holes on each side of the #12045 bracket shall be filled with #12 x 2.5’’ screws or approved equivalent. Three of the six fasteners shall fully penetrate a truss or framing member to fully achieve the proper holding power.

3) Other methods of mounting the 12045 bracket is to bolt the plate through decking with the use of six ¼”’
lag bolts with washers

4) Spacing between bracket shall not be more than eight (8) feet apart.

Instructions for Use of 12045:

1) Once the bracket is mounted, place post (12055) in socket and slide
construction grade lumber (2”x4” nom.) through 12055 pockets to create a continuous guardrail system meeting OSHA requirements 29CFR-1910.23 & 1926.502. Overlap 2 x 4’s at the 12055 post. Secure 2 x 4’s to post w/nails.

2) Construction grade lumber (2”x6” nom.) can also be secured to abp#12045 bracket to provide toe board.

Care And Maintenance of 12045:

1) Inspect all equipment before and after each use to be sure that there is no damage or deformation to any of the equipment.

2) Inspect to be sure there is no deterioration as a result of rusting. Discard if necessary.

3) Any equipment subjected to the forces of a fall arrest must be removed from service immediately.

4) Always handle the equipment with care to ensure safe and lasting use.

5) Do not throw or drop any equipment from height.

6) Do not use if exposed to extreme heat or cold. Discard at once.

7) Do not use if wet or frozen.
